According to a statement attributed to LG, more than a fifth of gaming monitors now use enhanced OLED panels. The source of the information is the YouTube channel HDTVTest, which made a sponsored video covering LG’s new OLED monitors at CES
To the channel, LG provided the information that “It’s only been two years since LG launched its first UltraGear OLED gaming monitor, but OLED already represents 22% of the total gaming monitor market share.”
This is even more impressive when considering LG’s estimate for OLED TVs’ market share at 18%. And according to the information, these are monitors currently in use, not monitors being shipped to retailers. HDTVTest attributes both numbers to a virtual briefing held before CES.

About Numbers
A LG dream 22% for “gaming monitors” e 18% for the television market as a whole. The bottom line is that PC gamers, especially those who use desktops and tend to be more willing to buy separate monitors, would be more interested in upgrading to the latest and greatest screens than general PC users.
Meanwhile, the general public that buys TVs is more inclined to opt for larger and/or cheaper screens, and OLED TVs mainly appeal to those who want to build a high-end living room setup.
In other words, although the numbers actually indicate an increase, this increase can still happen within a niche. Not that this is necessarily bad.
In addition to more gifts, OLED displays are becoming much more affordable. However, it may be a little early to declare the death of conventional monitors. Even players can opt for older models if the cost-benefit ratio is interesting.
Competitors
Another relevant fact is that LG is not the only brand with monitor panels and, although the increase in users with OLED monitors is significant for it, Samsung Displays should also benefit.
During CES 2025, the company presented a series of QD-OLED panels, ASUS, Alienware, Gigabyte and MSI announced their new monitors with the company’s panels. In other words, if LG isn’t careful, it could be harmed even with the boost in OLED panels.
However, it is clear that the company will not stand still in the face of competition and the arrival of the XBOX Gaming Cloud for LG TVs is a sign of this.
