The Intel Core Ultra 7 256V Lunar Lake benchmarks have leaked via Geekbench, revealing that the 17W sample has already shown faster performance than the AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS CPU at 28W.

The tests were performed on a future Lenovo notebook, with “balanced” power consumption and clock speeds reaching an average of 4.7 and 4.8 GHz – the latter being the boost clock limitation promised for the processor. This means that, although this is a sample, it should already be close to the “final product” that will reach the market.

Test results for the Intel Core Ultra 7 256V “Lunar Lake” CPU showed 2,608 points in single-core and 10,506 points in multi-core. Check them out below:

The processor’s single-core performance was 10% better than the Intel Core Ultra 7 155U. In addition, the AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS CPU, which operates at a standard 28W TDP, was also outperformed (its score is 2,139).

In the multi-core tests on Geekbench, the Intel Core Ultra 7 256V processor surpassed the results shown by the Ryzen 7 8840HS by 10%. Compared to the Core Ultra 7 155U, the results were 11% higher for the new CPU.

The Intel Core Ultra 7 256V takes the lead

The Core Ultra 7 256V will have 8 cores (4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores), 8 threads and 12 MB of L3 cache. Its base clock will be 2.2 GHz, with a boost clock of up to 4.8 GHz. In addition, its memory will be a 16 GB LPDDR5X 8533 and it will be equipped with an Arc 140V iGPU with 8 Xe2 cores.

One of the most surprising points of these tests on the Intel Core Ultra 7 256V CPU is that the Lunar Lake chips will operate at a reduced TDP – with 17W, but obtaining superior results to AMD’s Phoenix and Hawk Point processors, which operate at 28W or more.

If the Lunar Lake line follows this pattern of greater energy efficiency and higher performance, it is possible that we will see even higher performance for the chips that will be the “top of the line” in thin and light notebooks.

The Intel Core Ultra 7 256V CPU will arrive alongside the other “Lunar Lake” processors, with its launch taking place around September – with a confirmation pending from the manufacturer on the matter. Its direct competitor, the Ryzen AI 300 line, will be launched this July.
